Role overview.
We are seeking a Fire Sprinkler Domain Expert to serve as a key bridge between fire protection engineering and software development. This role will help ensure that our platform accurately reflects real-world sprinkler design workflows, code requirements, and industry best practices.
You will work closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and leadership to provide technical guidance, validate product features, improve AI-generated outputs, and help shape the future of Fire Design AI's sprinkler-related products.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fire sprinkler system design, layout, hydraulic calculations, plan review, or project management and is passionate about helping modernize the industry through technology.
Key responsibilities.
- Provide subject matter expertise on fire sprinkler system design and engineering workflows.
- Advise product and engineering teams on industry requirements, standards, and customer needs.
- Review and validate software features for technical accuracy and practical usability.
- Assist in training, testing, and improving AI-generated design recommendations and outputs.
- Help define product requirements for sprinkler-related tools and workflows.
- Review customer feedback and identify opportunities for product improvement.
- Support development of design automation, calculations, and workflow optimization features.
- Assist with technical documentation, educational content, and product demonstrations.
- Participate in customer meetings to provide industry expertise when needed.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies.
Areas of expertise.
Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following:
- Fire sprinkler system design.
- Hydraulic calculations.
- NFPA 13 compliance.
- Plan review and permitting processes.
- Commercial, industrial, and residential fire protection systems.
- Coordination with architects, engineers, and AHJs.
- Construction documentation and shop drawings.
- Design software and CAD-based workflows.
Required qualifications.
- 5+ years of experience in the fire protection industry.
- Strong understanding of NFPA 13 and related fire protection standards.
- Experience with sprinkler system design, layout, engineering, or plan review.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience reviewing construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
Preferred qualifications.
- NICET certification.
- Fire Protection Engineering background.
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools.
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
- Interest in AI, automation, and software products.
- Previous experience training or mentoring others.
